March 2001 Entries
Boeing has introduced their new concept plane to compete with the double decker Airbus A380 (formerly the A3XX). What a great looking plane. It flies at over 40,000' at Mach .95.

HBO is airing a special this weekend called Soldiers in the Army of God. It provides insight into the militant anti-abortion groups in America. These people actually sound quite a bit like the Taliban. I'm not sure how you feel about abortion but I'm pretty sure that murdering people doing things that you don't like is wrong.

Randy Johnson Hit a Bird. With a Baseball.
This shouldn't be funny! Randy Johnson hits a passing bird with a pitch. There's also a bigger, shorter version of it. This has to be one of the funniest, sickest things I've ever seen. Oh the flying feathers!

Hmmmm.
This poor man and his psycho ex-girlfriend. I really wish people wouldn't do this. Don't make girls afraid to date technical guys!

MIR = Free Tacos?
FREE TACOS . . . if . . . the MIR space station hits a 40' x 40' target Taco Bell left in the Pacific Ocean. At least someone is trying to give me free food.

ZapStation MP3 Player
The ZapStation is an interesting product. It's getting closer to what I want. According to the web site the only way to get MP3 files from your PC to the ZapStation is to burn them on a CD. Whose brilliant idea was that?

NASAS Picture of the Day
NASA publishes an Astronomy Picture of the Day. Last November they published this amazing picture of the earth taken from orbiting satellites. They pieced together hundreds of pictures in order to generate this one incredible image. They also published the famous "Deer in the Creek" forest fire picture.

PJB100 MP3 Player
Actually I might end up getting a PJB100. It's a little pricey but would give me music in the car which is what I'm really, really wanting.

Abortion = Reduced Crime?
Two researchers have put forth the arguement that legalized abortion has led to reduced crime. They link newly legalized abortion in the 70's with the reduced crime of the early 90's. Or rather (in my mind) that fewer unwanted, unloved children has led to fewer future criminals. This has, of course, pissed off both the liberals and convservatives. It is a very interesting arguement regardless of how you feel about it.

Go KU!
Rock Chalk baby! The Hawks are headed to Dayton! A disappointing loss in the Big 12 tournament left them a 4 seed. Oddly enough that Regional also includes Tennessee and Illinois which are both coached by ex-KU assistants.

AdCritic.com
You can find all the best commercials at AdCritic.com. I use my ReplayTV to skip the ads when I'm watching TV then I go to this site and watch the best commercials online. Weird. Now if I could just find a used Aries K car . . .

Quiet PC's
There is so much cool stuff out there!. I was looking for a PC to put in the home stereo setup for DVD/MP3/etc. We first looked at a BookPC but weren't too impressed. We were concerned it might be too noisy. Of course, there is always QuietPC. They sell components for quiet PC's. Catchy name. They say they'll start building systems soon. And here is a good thread on building a quiet PC.

Hey, maybe the iRAD-C is the answer to my home MP3 problems. It seems close and might bear a little more research.

MP3's in my car
I want to play MP3's in my car! Is that too much to ask? The Empeg is close but expensive! I think Gocho is closer to what I want. The wireless Ethernet link to the house especially rocks! Unfortunately the product doesn't exist yet. Start building them already!

All your base are belong to us is such a catchy meme. And now Am I All your Base or Not. And don't forget the music video (it looks better if you shrink your browser window)!

MP3's in my Living Room
My never ending quest to find a great way to play MP3's through my home stereo has led me to the Lansonic Digital Audio Receiver. It's kind of pricey (700 yak hooves!) but appears to be much higher quality than the AudioTron. It connects through Ethernet to a PC or it can store your MP3's locally. Plus it has digital audio out. Sound and Vision magazine has a review up.

Writing A Better Napster
If you're planning to write a P2P MP3 sharing service to fill the void of Napster, I'd definitely read this article. I really want my music delivered digitally. I'd gladly pay a music publisher to do this. When will they figure out that Pandora's box is open?
