The news media and members of Congress have been kicking around the idea of computer face recognition in airports to thwart terrorists. This falls in the "Things I'm Not Fond Of" category. How do you build this database? Do we have pictures of terrorists? If we can't keep them out of the country why do we think we can keep them off airplanes? I found an article that discusses some additional
practical problems
a system like that would face.
