UN Documents Missing?
It seems the Oil For Food program is missing some documents.  Guess the UN is in CYA mode.  Bet they're pissed that Arthur Andersen is already out business.  Billions of dollars illegally funneled back to Saddam and now they can't find all the paperwork.

Why Liberals Want a Draft

Representative Charles Rangel introduced a bill reinstating the draft.  Do you think he's actually in favor of increasing our military readiness?  Den Beste has a pretty scathing article and calls him a “f------ liar”

Actually, he isn't totally lying, but he's disguising the truth so strongly that the overall result is still a lie. It has nothing to do with "equitable representation of people making sacrifices"; it has to do with forcing young American men to make sacrifices unwillingly, because that will motivate many of those men, and the young women who love them, to oppose the war, or so he hopes.

That's a motive that wouldn't suprise me coming from Rangel.  This is one of the better articles I've read in a long time.  It's not just about the draft.  It covers the growing Oil-For-Food scandal, racism, Israeli/Palestinian issue and a variety of other topics.  He titles it “The Truth Is ...”.  Very much worth a read.

Terrorists Demand Italians Protest
(From the BBC) Iraqi terrorists holding three Italians hostage have demanded that Italians protest against the war or they'll kill the hostages.  That has to be one of the odder requests from a group holding someone hostage.

Don't Rob Suicide Bombers
Two Palestinians mugged a suicide bomber on his way to kill a few people.  The demanded his explosive belt.  Rather than give it up the guy blew himself up ... and the two muggers.  I guess you use the tools you've got.   (Thanks Chris).

Saddam's Oil-For-Food

Some of the most interesting news coming out of Iraq is the erupting scandal with the UN's Oil for Food program.  It seems the darn thing was corrupt to its very core.  Writes Mark Steyn:

Among the alleged beneficiaries were senior French politicians and Russia's "office of the President". According to documentation found in the Oil Ministry in Baghdad, recipients of Saddam's generosity included the man Annan picked to run Oil-for-Food, the UN under-secretary-general Benon Sevan, who got enough oil to make himself a nice illegal profit of $3.5 million.

In other words, Oil-for-Fraud is everything the Left said the war was: it was all about oil - for Benon Sevan, the UN, France, Russia and the others who had every incentive to maintain Saddam in power. Every Halliburton invoice to the Pentagon is audited to the last penny, but Saddam can use Kofi Annan's office as a front for a multi-billion dollar global kickback scheme and, until it was brought to public attention by the tireless Claudia Rosett of The Wall Street Journal and a few other persistent types, the Secretary-General apparently never noticed.

That article is definitely worth reading.  He also mentions a number of other UN fiascos I'd like to know more about.

Samuri Sportsman

Could Samuri Sportsman be the weirdeset new show ever?  Well ... probably not.

Yoshi is a modern-day Samurai who will combine humor and a fun spirited approach as he utilizes his martial arts training to master traditional American outdoor activities.

Bass fishing.  Boar hunting.  Steer wrestling.  You know ... the usual stuff.  I actually caught a little bit of it on TV tonight.  It was pretty amusing.  Yoshi has a rather dark sense of humor.  That's probably required for modern day samuri.

I love spam

I recently received over 300 pieces of spam in a 24 hour period.  That's a record for me.  And now I'm finding out why.  Apparently there are 1,300,925,111,156,286,160,896 ways to spell Viagra.  I don't think my spam filter has seem them all yet.  I use SpamBayes which is highly recommended if you use Outlook (not Outlook Express).
