Palestinian Affairs: Death of an Intifada
Interesting article on the status of the Intifada.  It doesn't seem to be going well.  Maybe the Israelis have finally broken the terrorists hold on the West Bank.  We'll see.

The BBC "News"

Here's an article on the BBC and their slanted coverage of Israel, Islam and everything Middle East.  It's full of examples of them being pro-Communist and anti-semitic.

For a short while after the Hutton report was published in January, BBC staff were a little more careful in their attacks on Israel. But recently they have returned to old ways, with at least four anti-Israeli TV documentaries airing in recent weeks. That makes a total of 20 major documentaries the BBC has made on Israel since 2001 (all but one attacking Israel.) That is three times more than the number of documentaries the BBC has made on any other single country, with the exception of Britain.

Meanwhile, to my knowledge, the BBC has made no documentaries about human-rights abuses in the Arab world; or about Palestinian schoolbooks; or about the Palestinian Authority's incitement of the Palestinian population; or about the Palestinian Authority's funding of terrorism allegedly with the use of European Union aid funds.

If you read the BBC for news on the Middle East or Sudan or Bosnia or anywhere else take a second and read this.

Great article on "The Middle East"

Den Beste has a post on a great article on the Middle East and Islamic culture.  The original was a series of posts on a message board so he's cleaned it up and posted it in his "Essential Library".  It's supposedly written by an Israeli scientist and does have a "scientific" feel to it.  It makes some very interesting points and isn't about the Israeli-Palestinian situation at all.

Yes, there is a 100 year-old Israeli-Arab conflict, but it is not where the main show is.

  • The millions who died in the Iran-Iraq war had nothing to do with Israel.
  • The mass murder happening right now in Sudan, where the Arab Moslem regime is massacring its black Christian citizens, has nothing to do with Israel.
  • The frequent reports from Algeria about the murders of hundreds of civilian in one village or another by other Algerians have nothing to do with Israel.
  • Saddam Hussein did not invade Kuwait, endangered Saudi Arabia and butcher his own people because of Israel.
  • Egypt did not use poison gas against Yemen in the 60’s because of Israel.
  • Assad the Father did not kill tens of thousands of his own citizens in one week in El Hamma in Syria because of Israel.
  • The Taliban control of Afghanistan and the civil war there had nothing to do with Israel.
  • The Libyan blowing up of the Pan-Am flight had nothing to do with Israel
This is a very, very good article on some of the problems in the Moslem culture.  It doesn't attack Islam in general just certain trends that have allowed thugs and terrorists to use the religion to their own end.  Please read this one.

A Dubious Achievement

I finally made it!  I'm on the first page of Google results for George Bush Sucks AND John Kerry Sucks.  Please join me while I crow about my stunning triumph.  No other site is on the first page for both.  I'd hazard that there aren't many sites that overlap at all!

The real fruits of this success arethe comments on the two posts.  Yes, the moonbats are out in force.  My first post on Bush.  A small sampling:

  • If he wouldnt have done anything saddonom husan (or however you spell it) would have KILLED many more americans
  • I think we should just go to California and find some Mexican to run the country.
  • Hey, tard, where was Gw Buttwipe during Vietnam?
  • this site is awesome gwbush SUCKS!  (This person obviously reads my site in great detail)
  • ... and hopefully this can be discussed calmly unlike the posts I have seen thus far.  (Don, did you really think that was going to happen?)
  • This site sucks as bad as the webmaster that maintains it.  (This was one of the morons that thought I was a radio host.  Not that I'm saying he's wrong -- about the webmaster part.  I'm just calling him a moron.)

Obviously the people that posted in the Kerry Sucks thread would be smarter and more civilized right?  Yeah, not so much.

  • I think Kerry should take a trip with Ted Kennedy to Chappequidick
  • Kerry is a waffeling , elderly, liberal hose bag!
  • Joe: Please pass this out to your list. (And another moron who thinks that the guy that runs billgraziano.com is named Joe.  Hello!  It's Bill!  I'm not the radio guy.  It's hard to value what people think when they can't even figure out they're posting on the wrong site.  He did use complete sentences though.  Bonus points for that.)
  • john kerry stands for one thing himeself and getting elected.and does not care who he stabs in the back to do it
  • oops forgot i will not go to war for oi....i mean ketchup.
  • you guys rock. Go W. John Kerry is out!
  • Ask Nicolas Berg if he is gonna vote for bush?  (Ouch.)
  • Jon- Are you done? Perhaps you might have a different outlook after the crack wears off.
  • Okay, first off, go to typing school before you decide to go ranting and raving about something you obviously know nothing about. (That's the way to start a discussion on the issues!)
  • I'm only 18 and I can see that his policies are full of holes. And he looks way to French to be President (I wonder if I look too French?  Does the beret give it away?)
  • I really do suck !   Signed,  John Kerry
  • Why is every body fighting bush these days.
  • you all are a bunch of fucking redneck war mongereres if you like bush.  (Just say it out loud.)

Hmmm.  It seems the anti-Kerry thread wins on quotable comments.  I'm not really what that means politically.  Probably not much.

How to deal with terrorism
It's not very often I read an article ArabNews.com that I like.  In fact I can't recall one before this one.  Usually they are full of anti-Western drivel of the worst kind.  However with Saudi Arabia facing an increasing threat from terrorists they've stepped up (or started) their condemnation of terrorism.  The first article I've found is Some Lessons From Nations That Won the War On Terror.  And it's a damn good article.  It covers various countries that have fought terrorism and won including Algeria and Peru.  I never did fully realize how terrible the “civil war” in Algeria was.  The author settles on a figure of 28,000 people killed in the name of militant Islam.  It's a very good read.

British Elections
I was very frustrated to see Blair do poorly in the British elections.  I assumed the British people were punishing him for his support of America and the war in Iraq.  I did a little digging on the BBC so I could see the liberal spin on things.  The first article I tracked down talked all about the EU and not at all about the war in Iraq.  That's way elections are great!  Everybody gets to pick what's important to them.  And it seems the anti-EU party did very, very well.  Good for England!

More Reagan Goodness
One of the sites I read has an interesting write-up on Reagan and Casey and their effect on the Soviet Union during the Cold War.  My relatives in Israel sent me a couple of interesting article from the Jerusalem Post.  “The Prisoner's Conscience” is by Natan Sharansky.  He was a Jew in a Soviet prison and writes of his encounters with Reagan.  “Goodby, Freedom Man” discusses the effect Reagan had on the world.  Both are great articles and written with a different slant than what I've read so far.  (The JPost does require registration but it's free, easy and worth it.)

Thanks Ron
On an unrelated note ... I've had a little to drink tonight.  If this post rambles ... it's the alcohol talking.  Ronald Reagan took office in 1981.  I started high school in 1980.  He served until 1989 -- the same year I graduated from college.  He was the only president I knew during my “formative” years.  And I think he was damn good one.  He's the first president I really remember that's died.  I'm not quite sure what to think.  I am sure that a certain fringe group is going to come out of the woodwork and complain that he was already senile or the Alzheimers had already kicked in while he was in office.  Bullshit!  I think Reagan saw clearer and deeper than any recent president.  He really tried to focus on the big picture and let others deal with the little stuff.  Sure it hurt him.  Sure people he trusted let him down or had their own agenda.  That happens.  But I also think he left the country in much better shape than he found it.  Thank  you Ronald Reagan.  For being a force for democracy and freedom in a trouble time.  Thank you for being positive no matter what the problem.  Thank you.

Watching Paint Dry

It's a new reality show in the UK.  I can't figure out if it's real or not.  You can also watch online.  I'm just really jealous I didn't think of it.  (Thanks Damian.)
