Florida recount
Interesting article in Wired about vote count "issues" in Florida. Bottom Line: People changed their voting party without changing their registration. How do you change your registered party affiliation?

Arafat is done
Arafat is dead ... finally. At least I'm pretty sure he is. The man was a terrorist pure and simple. His Fatah organzation carried out terrorists attacks in Israel. Black September, which conducted the massacre of Israeli atheletes in Munich, was an offshoot of Fatah. He turned down the best deal the Palestinians were ever going to get in 2000. He didn't leave any type of functioning government in the Palestinian controlled areas. We're going to have a funeral and a civil war. Hamas is going to battle the more moderate groups for control. Sad. Arafat was also stole billions from the Palestinians. The San Francisco Chronicle has an article on the scramble to control Arafat's wealth.

Your Kung Fu is no match...
Filing this in the Culture category is a sad, sad statement on Santa Barbara. On the other hand it's really, really funny. It's a police report on cops handling two guys fighting in their apartment using "formal ground fighting techniques." One of the guys challenges the cop to fight. He should have know cops don't fight fair.

Voting
I cast my ballot this morning. I stood in line for roughly 45 minutes -- the longest I've ever waited. Also in line was a 96 year old gentleman who was telling funny stories of voting for FDR. We all agreed to move him to the front of the line so he wouldn't have to stand. What a character. I follow a web site called TradeSports. It's a stock market for world events including elections. Yesterday a Bush victory was trading around 55 (out of 100). Just a moment ago Bush was trading at 32. It seems the "traders" decided that the heavy turnout is good for Kerry. It should be an interesting night. My drive home from work takes me by a few polling stations. I'm guessing the lines will be even longer. At least it wasn't raining today :)
