We must be reading the same stuff, but you were a little ahead of me on this. I didn't see your post until after I wrote my own (

Did you see Claudia Rosett's article, too? I have to believe that people who are still enamored with the UN are focusing on what it used to be or some ideal of what it should be and are overlooking the current state of affairs.
