My Roses are Blooming!

They only bloom for a few weeks each year.  I'm sure the people I bought my house from are shocked that I haven't managed to kill them yet.

The Exonerated
So I don't post anything for weeks. And this is my third post this morning. It's amazing how much time I have on my hands while I wait for a data conversion to run. I went and saw a play about the death penalty this week called The Exonerated. It's the story of six people who wrongly convicted and placed on death row. Go see it if you get a chance. It's very well done and very moving.

Freakonomics
My copy of Freakonomics arrived late Thursday afternoon. I finished it later that night. It turned out to be a very good book. The authors delve into all kinds of interesting topics including sumo wresters who throw matches and teachers who cheat for their students. Levitt seems to have a fascination with the darker side of life. One of the more controversial claims in the book is the link between legalized abortion and the drastic reduction in crime in the 90's. That's a very interesting chapter that has already ruffled a few feathers. My new favorite quote: "Morality is how you want the world to be. Economics is how it is".

Do you have a secret?
Here's an odd little site. People send in their darkest secrets on a postcard. I wonder how many are real. They certainly are nice postcards.
